Hello to our wonderful Daisy Hill Early Learning Centre families!
At Daisy Hill ELC we want to ensure we are teaching the children life-long healthy eating habits. This is why we have the highest quality, healthy and nutritious meals being prepared for your children every day.
What do we do at Kids Gourmet Food?
We cook and provide fresh, nutritious, homestyle meals for children in childcare every day. We’re qualified chefs and we’ve been refining and fine tuning our menus since 2002. The early years in a child’s life are instrumental in developing positive, long-term eating habits. Exposing young children to a healthy, diverse diet not only gives them the best start in life, it helps secure their future health, development and wellbeing as they grow up.
We use high-quality, fresh ingredients and a broad range of flavours and textures to create meals that meet – and often exceed – the latest nutritional guidelines for children in care.
Healthy Catering for Children
We work with nutritionists and dieticians and consult with national advisory groups to ensure the highest nutritional standards. In our six-week rotational menu, your children’s meals contain food from the five food groups recommended by the Australian Dietary Guidelines.
Our healthy and balanced meals include a variety of:
- Fresh vegetables and legumes
- Seasonal fruit
- Wholegrains and seeds
- Lean fresh meat and fish
- Dairy options
Our menus also offer a wide selection of fresh fruit and raw vegetables with morning and afternoon tea, as well as steamed, fresh vegetables at lunchtime.
Encouraging a Love of Food
When children are growing up, mealtimes are not solely about nutrition. They’re a time to explore a world of new flavours and textures and to enjoy a positive and sociable eating experience that will encourage them to make their own healthy choices when they’re older. We are truly passionate about passing on our own love of food by offering a diverse and creative menu that captures children’s interest. We also work with centre staff to promote an environment where mealtimes are one of the most important parts of the day.
Welcome to Kindergarten!
Miss DY will be away from the centre until 4/3/2021 due to unforeseen circumstances. In the interim, Miss Rachael, Ash and Mau will be taking care of the Kindergarten classroom until she returns! We have so many exciting experiences to share with the children and we are looking forward to such a great 2021.
We are starting to explore our letters this month, just some easy starters for the children. We are exploring the letters in our names and some of our favourite animals, activities our shows.
The numbers 1, 2, 3, & 4 are in focus (we go up to twenty then reset), and we will be exploring the concepts of Temperature, Gravity, Speed, and Force. We also are very avid about learning about animals, as it allows us to draw comparisons to ourselves, and this leads to self-discovery. I have no set animals in mind, we are more focused on getting the children excited about learning and following their interests.
Lastly, we always give focus to physical development; fine and large motor control exercises include cutting lines, tracing lines, lacing, tying, drawing and painting. Please feel free to input into our program.
Toddler Time!
Welcome to the month of friendship… We are encouraging our friends to learn how to value each other and to be kind. We will discuss what friends are? What we like about our friends? What can you do with your friends?
Throughout the month we will also be engaging in numbers, graphing, writing, and word recognition.
Nursery News
We have welcomed so many new Nursery friends this month. We are building strong connections between the families and the staff to assist the children feel welcomed in the environment.
We have also been working on developing autonomy (sense of self) and how to feel comfortable in their surrounding and become confident learners.
Junior Kindy Time!
The month of Love and Friendship is here!
Children are becoming more familiar with shapes and colours and the older ones are becoming more comfortable describing the shapes and are motivating the younger twos. During the month of February, we will continue with shapes and colours, since we have lots of new little friends, and because I want to be sure that the ones that move over to the 3’s are comfortable and are ready to move to the next classroom. Along with shapes and colours, children will have fun learning about Friendship, counting, teeth and DR. SEUSS.
Many children have shown an interest in cooking, playing in the home corner and learning about healthy eating to continue and further the children’s interest we all got on board and discussed what foods are healthy and what foods are unhealthy. It has been a lot of fun!
