Welcome to the first edition of Daisy Hill ELC news for 2022!
We are so excited to welcome you all to what we know will be an even better year than last!
Some of our Graduating classes have been with us since 2017 and some as recent as 2021, either way, we are just so thankful for the time that we have spent with these families and of course, the children. It is such a precious gift to share in the journey of Education and Care of a child, the memories of which stay with you for years to come, so again, We Thank you and Good Luck.
We welcome the new families that are just starting with us. We hope that you enjoy your time with us!
Next week, the children are moving into the classrooms that they will be officially enrolled in for 2022

Play is Fun!
We aim to offer high-quality programs for children, balancing child-led experiences and intentional teaching by our educators. We deliver engaging experiences through play with children.
I have been having a few similar conversations with families of late in regards to scaffolding children’s learning and ensuring that children are well-prepared learners as they move towards prep programs. Trust us, we do.
We are advocates of learning through play. We are regulated by the Early Years Learning Framework and Kindergarten program and this is reflected in our practices. Play is the foundation for children’s well-being and emotional strength. Play allows children the opportunity to showcase their outstanding ability for exploration, imagination, creative ability and development.
Sustainability
One of our goals for our first quarter is our Sustainability practices. The children will be learning about recycling, with a focus on organics, landfills and paper. And the impacts on our environment.
FUN RECYCLING FACTS FOR KIDS IN AUSTRALIA

- The energy saved by recycling one plastic bottle will power your computer for 25minutes.
- Recycling one aluminium can save enough power to run your TV for 3 hours.
- The average family home uses 6 trees worth of paper every year.
- An adult fleece jacket is made from 25 two-litre plastic bottles.
- A one-litre milk carton can be recycled into 5 pieces of paper.
- Recycling glass saves 75% of the energy needed to create new glass from raw materials.
- You can run a 100 watt light bulb for 4 hours with the energy saved by recycling one glass bottle.
I am asking families, if you do have scrap paper or cardboard at home, please bring them into the centre so that we can recycle them here for the children’s art and craft experiences.
